GIB announced its grand opening on June 1, 2026 marking the official arrival in Macau of a professional agency dedicated to providing international, comprehensive, and customized risk management and insurance solutions.

Alex Lao, a member of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and founder of GIB, stated that as a professional insurance brokerage firm, the company will focus on reinsurance as its core business to fully leverage its key roles as a “stabilizer” for risk diversification, a “bridge and link” for capital flow, and a “booster” for industrial empowerment, thereby safeguarding the high-quality development of Macao’s new-quality economy. Specifically, efforts will be advanced in four areas: First, precisely aligning with the national strategy for new-quality productive forces to build a robust risk defense for the development of Macao’s emerging industries; second, leveraging international resource advantages to fully address gaps in Macao’s reinsurance market; third, promoting the deep integration of insurance services with emerging industries to support the moderate diversification of Macao’s economy; and fourth, establishing a specialized talent development platform to lay a solid talent foundation for the development of Macao’s distinctive financial sector.
